The Roster Game- Bench/ DH
First- Merry Christmas everyone
Second- Let’s make it 20. Come on Celtics beat LA!
Third- I will start a new feature tomorrow called comment of the day where the best comment on one of my stories gets put on my blog as a shoot out.
Now to the story
P.R./OF.- Jacoby Ellsbury– .280, 9 Home Runs, 47 RBI’s, 50 Stolen Bases, $406,000
Jacoby is just fast. He set a ton of rookie stolen base records this year. His defense is also fantastic. Jacoby is cheep, too. He is young, hits for decent contact, and obviously fast. He was third in rookie of the year voting, lead Boston in the 2007 playoffs, and this year led the league in stolen bases. I think Jacoby could break Rickey Henderson’s stolen base records.
Honorable Mention-P.R.
Willy Taveras
P.H./ OF.- Carlos Quentin-.288, 36 Home Runs, 100 RBI’s, 7 Stolen Bases, $400,000
I’m not so sure about Quentin yet. Some guys have great years then stink again. With Quentin though his swing is injury prone. His swing is a lot like Jeff Bagwell, who had to retire early due to his shoulder. He hurt his shoulder by swinging. If Quentin did have a great year next year then and this was a real team, then I would trade him for prospects, because he would probably want more playing time.
Honorable Mention- P.H./ OF
Andre Ethier
3rd/ 2nd/ LF/ RF- Mark DeRosa, .285, 21 Home Runs, 87 RBI’s, 6 Stolen Bases, $4,750,000
DeRosa can play almost anywhere. He is overpaid though. He provides veteran leadership and is a good influence in the clubhouse. I think he would be good with Peedie. He could “mentor” him about the few things he doesn’t know. DeRosa was decent contact and decent power. He also drives in a good amount of runs.
Honorable Mention- 3rd/ 2nd/LF/RF
Chone Figgins
D.H.
Rocco Baldelli– .263, 4 Home Runs, 13 RBI’s, 0 Stolen Bases,* $2,250,000
*- In only 28 games
Rocco is a gamble. His illness is now highly treatable. He is young also. I think 95 percent of this team is young. I put Rocco at D.H. because I don’t know if he will need time to rest after his treatment. At first I didn’t want to put him on this team but I decided he should be because of his age, skill, and the fact that his illness is treatable. There also weren’t a lot of cheep D.H.’s so I thought about putting Big Papi in here then I saw Huff, and then I remembered Rocco.
Honorable Mention
David Ortiz & Aubrey Huff
Total Payroll Today- $7,806,000
Total Payroll So Far- $24,008,162
Tomorrow look out for the rotation featuring 5 aces.
I really think Jacoby is going to improve next year, and his defense is absolutely solid. He can make some pretty amazing catches! Good thing that Rocco’s disease is treatable now! Merry Christmas

Also I could move Quentin to D.H. Elizabeth I also do think Jacoby will improve, but he still is not as good as Sizemore, Hamilton, and Braun.
You can so not got wrong with Jacoby! I really think he will improve this year and his numbers will be awesome! I hope you had a great Christmas!
